Miami | It’s Epic, Alright

There’s an old Floridian proverb that says “you are who you surround yourself with” so why not surround yourself with beautiful people who spare no expense on the finer things in life?

Where might you find such people? Miami. More specifically: the Epic Hotel.

Where to stay:

Located on the edge of Miami River & Biscayne Bay, adjacent to the private Marina that shares its name, is a 54 story luxury eco-friendly hotel with 411 rooms, 13,752 square foot wrap-around pool deck and 10 ultra private cabanas which keep you shaded during the day and turn into mini pulsating hotspots at night.

The Epic is a Kimpton property, a collection of boutique hotels across America. Each room or suite has a private balcony overlooking either downtown of the “Magic City” or the bay…and for the lonelier guests, a goldfish is available on demand for company; a program dubbed ‘Guppy Love’.  If you like to travel with your furry friends, dogs of all shapes and sizes are always welcome at Kimpton properties. Woof. The Presidential suites are exceptionally indulgent and accommodating.

It’s the perfect spot for business travelers and well heeled socialites alike, combining the style of a cosmopolitan boutique hotel with the amenities of a resort. The best of both worlds, Epic is a sophisticated haven amidst the overwhelming energy of Miami. We’re especially fond of the daily hosted wine hour. Elegance, whimsy, cabanas and free wine. What’s not to love?

Where to Eat:

The Miami Chophouse (formerly known as ‘Manny’s) is walking distance from the Epic, and worth the short walk even mid-tropical rainfall. The dining room and bar atmosphere is dramatic, inviting and one hell of a visual spectacle. The women you’ll find here are just as appealing. Pricey, but the perfect place for a classic carnivore and steak-a-holic.

Area 31 on the 16th floor of the Epic serves classical seafood with a Mediterranean twist, and you get to dine with a view of an ancient burial ground (perfect for  a solo dinner or impressing a date). Whatever you order you can’t go wrong so long as you start with their signature drink, the Copa Verde, and end with a glass of 20 year old Tawny Port and a Dirt Cup for dessert. Don’t judge the final plate based on its title—for what it lacks in sophistication it makes up for in divine flavor and ultimate happiness.

Nightlife:

An integral part of life in Miami. For VIP’s Kyma Lounge’s service is unparalleled. Fresh to the scene (they just opened in April) it’s housed on the ground floor of the Epic but Kyma is independently owned and operated, with nightly management whose number one priority is keeping the drinks flowing and the guests dancing until the sun comes up. They cater to an upscale and chic clientele who is looking for exclusivity while perusing the infamous Miami scene…an alluring and dynamic atmosphere indeed. Just what Miami needs.

This town is an oasis of retreat and vivacious nightlife—a most entertaining combination for any visitor, be it business or pleasure related. In Miami, it’s always a bit of both vices…
