[HOTEL REVIEW] Crosby Street Hotel SoHo NYC

The leaves are almost gone and the snow has yet to hit—we are in the sweet spot of seasons in New York City, a beautiful combination of leather boots stomping the pavement and the absence of bone chilling cold filling the air. The overflow of ever eager tourists haven’t quite descended on the city (anymore than usual, at least) and you feel the urge to actually walk 20 blocks and skip the sweaty subway.

It’s a lovely time to visit—especially if you have a suite booked at the Crosby Street Hotel. The design alone is stunning, designed by owner and Design Director for Firmdale Hotels Kit Kemp. Firmdale Hotels is privately owned by husband and wife team Tim and Kit Kemp and comprises seven award winning luxury properties in central London.

Crosby Street Hotel Suite
A luxury suite at the Crosby Street Hotel in SoHo

This is Firmdale’s only NYC property, and they have translated their British sensibility and style in New York beautifully. There is great emphasis placed upon color and texture – the hotel features an impressive, personally selected art collection.

Everywhere you look is an eclectic combination of modern design in a warm inviting atmosphere. Wide grey oak floorboards sit alongside soaring metal framed windows and doors which provide abundant natural light. The lobby is dominated by a dramatic 10 foot high Jaume Plensa steel sculpture as a human head created from letters of the alphabet. It’s modern industrial chic with a friendly British afternoon tea vibe.

Make sure you book a specialty suite on the 10th or 11th floor…the views are simply brilliant and each individually designed suite feels like home, but better. High ceilings and full length windows make you feel on top of the world, or at least on top of SoHo. Service is exceptional—anything you forgot to bring or are just craving can be brought to you in the shake of a lamb’s tail. The hotel bar is a pulsating fun watering hole for after work drinks, and true to the ‘city that never sleeps’ mantra there’s an honesty bar just for guests that stays open till sunrise with a DIY libations attitude and a sign in book.

Crosby Street Hotel has brought Firmdale’s famous luxurious European style and long standing reputation for world class personal service to NYC. It’s a one of a kind luxury getaway…book a flight and experience it for yourself.
