Del Friscos Steakhouse

Midtown NYC | Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House

When was the last time you had a truly memorable steak? A completely unflawed piece of meat, grilled to perfection, melt in your mouth still moo-ing type of perfect. It had been for a while for us…then we stopped by Del Frisco’s for dinner. It was one feast we will never ever forget.

Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House is a pulsating testosterone filled steakhouse that serves Cowboy size portions and resembles a Wall Street trading floor in its vigor and ambiance. That’s not to say it can’t serve well for date night—just make sure she’s not a vegetarian. The after five crowd lingers at the bustling bar downstairs, ordering signature VIP after VIP cocktail (a delicious pineapple vodka martini that goes down a little too easy). The second floor boasts storybook views of Manhattan and Radio City Music Hall that make you feel like you’re floating on the edge of the city.

Then comes the food. The menu is an overwhelming list of anything and everything you could possibly be craving at that moment. It’s a combination of traditional and experimental—the fresh blue cheese wedge salad is exactly what you’d expect, perfectly executed, while the spicy calamari brings a whole new level of heat to your appetizer. Novelties like the lobster mac & cheese and rich side of creamed spinach are great accompaniments—but the real star of the show is (what else) the steak.

Bone-in Rib-Eye, Filet Mignon, Wagyu Longbone…it’s tempting to eat your way through the menu right then and there. The ‘flight of filet’ was exciting bite after bite, each of the three filets surprising my tastebuds with layer after layer of flavor. The Bone-in Rib-Eye was a true contender—try not to finish this huge steak. Even if you think you can’t handle another bite somehow the entire steak will disappear off your plate…it’s that addicting. Almost any steakhouse can grill a decent Filet Mignon—it takes an expert kitchen to pull off a Rib-Eye like that.

The cornerstone of the Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House menu is aged USDA Prime Beef. They serve only the best hand-cut steaks, chops and freshest seafood, including Australian cold water lobster tails.

Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House actually planted its roots in Dallas more than 20 years ago. They now have restaurants everywhere from Boston to Denver to Philly, but they don’t give in to that ‘chain restaurant’ vibe and their NYC branch is definitely one of our favorite steakhouses to date. It’s all about tradition here. The tradition of a fine American steak house, doing what they do best…serving Manhattan’s finest with great food and hand crafted cocktails.
